Privacy policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and what you can make us do about it.
Last updated 14 September 2026. This policy covers willolegal.co.uk and the Willo platform, both operated by Project Will Ltd (Companies House 16839327), registered in England and Wales and registered with the Information Commissioner's Office.
Two different relationships#
This distinction matters, so it comes first.
When you visit this website or ask for a walkthrough, we are the data controller for your personal data.
When you use Willo to hold your own clients' data, you are the controller and we are the processor. We act on your instructions under a data processing agreement. Your obligations to your clients and to the ICO remain yours.
What we collect and why#
| What | Why | Lawful basis |
|---|---|---|
| Name, email, phone, business name, and anything you type into the walkthrough form | To contact you about a walkthrough and answer your enquiry | Legitimate interests, and steps prior to entering a contract |
| Account and billing details | To provide the platform and take payment | Contract |
| Support tickets and correspondence | To help you, and to keep a record of what was said | Contract and legitimate interests |
| Your clients' personal data inside Willo | To provide the platform to you | Processed on your instructions as processor |
| Basic analytics about site usage | To understand which pages are useful | Consent, where required |
We do not sell personal data. We do not share your enquiry with third parties for their own marketing.
How long we keep it#
Enquiries that do not become customers: up to 24 months, then deleted. Customer records: for the life of the account and then for a limited period afterwards so you can recover data if you change your mind, then deleted. Records we are required to keep for tax or legal reasons: for the statutory period.
Ask support for the current retention period for platform data if you need a specific figure for your own retention policy.
Who we share it with#
Service providers who help us run the platform and the business — hosting, email delivery, payment processing through GoCardless, and similar. Each is bound by contract to process data only on our instructions. We will also disclose data where we are legally required to.
Your rights#
Under UK GDPR you can ask us for a copy of your data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, object to processing, ask us to restrict processing, and ask for portability. Email support@projectwill.co.uk and we will respond within a month.
If you think we have got it wrong, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk. We would rather you told us first, but it is your right either way.
Cookies#
This website uses cookies only for basic analytics. It does not run advertising trackers, and it does not share your browsing with ad networks.

See it draft one of your cases.
Book a walkthrough with someone who drafts in Willo every day. They will open your kind of case, not a demo script, and you can stop them and ask anything.
Or call 0333 049 5033 — Mon–Fri, 9am–6pm.
